William (Bill) Murphy

Bill Murphy is a CPA with a Master´s Degree in Taxation and more than 28 years of senior level management experience in large public accounting firms and private industries holding positions of V.P of Tax.

Bill has extensive knowledge in innovative strategies for the preservation of tax attributes  in the automotive finance, car rental, and finance industries. He works closely with our corporate, bankruptcy, and restructuring clients in connection with advising with modifications of debt, pre-bankruptcy planning to manage tax liabilities, dealing with taxing authorities in obtaining rulings and closing agreements, structuring tax efficient plans of reorganization, including designing structures to retain corporate tax attributes.

Bill has advised on cross-border transactions, transactions confined to the United States, and transactions entirely outside of the United States designing structures to achieve transaction-related tax efficiencies and benefits pre and post transaction. He has created acquisition structures with flexible exit transactions maximizing the utilization of acquisition debt.

Bill has run large corporate tax departments with world-wide responsibility over federal and state income tax, state and local sales, use, property tax, and international taxation. In this role he has dealt with; intercompany payments and pricing, tax accounting issues, bad debt reserves, domicile and nexus issues, entity classification, allocation of purchase price, and implementation of section 1033 Like-Kind Exchange programs.
